Ushuaia es una ciudad argentina, capital de la Provincia de Tierra del Fuego, Antártida e Islas del Atlántico Sur, se ubica en las costas del canal Beagle rodeada por la cadena montañosa del Martial, en la bahía de Ushuaia.
Es la única ciudad argentina que se encuentra del otro lado de los Andes, vista desde el resto del país. Ushuaia suele ser llamada con el eslogan de «la ciudad más austral del mundo».
Al ser una ciudad turística, muchas personas hablan otro idioma además del español, destacándose el inglés, el alemán y el portugués, entre otros.
Ushuaia tiene unos 74752 habitantes y se presenta oficialmente como "la ciudad más austral del mundo". Situada más al norte que Río Grande, la ciudad chilena de Punta Arenas, con 131 592 habitantes,74 también utilizó ese calificativo con fines promocionales e identitarios. También se asocia con ese eslogan al pueblo chileno de Puerto Williams, ubicado algo más al sur que Ushuaia. Sin embargo, la condición de ciudad de esta última permanecía en discusión hasta mayo de 2019, cuando el Instituto Nacional de Estadísticas de Chile modificó la normativa para considerar ciudad a una localidad, a "aquellos centros urbanos con más de 5.000 habitantes, excepto aquellos que cumplan con la característica político-administrativa de capital regional o provincial", en este último punto, Puerto Williams cambió su denominación de poblado a ciudad, transformándose en la ciudad más austral del mundo
La afluencia inmigratoria marcó un importante crecimiento en la ciudad. A fines de la década del ’40, llegaron a estos desolados confines más de 1.000 italianos con sus familias para trabajar en obras de infraestructura y se quedaron a vivir formando el barrio que actualmente es habitado por las familias de la Base Naval.
Por último, en la década del ’60 se consolidó una tercera etapa de poblamiento marcada por las políticas de promoción industrial. Esta medida atrajo numerosas empresas y, por ende, una gran cantidad de trabajadores que se instalaron en nuevos barrios.
Ushuaia cuenta con una gastronomía típicamente austral, en donde se puede degustar la tradicional centolla fueguina, la merluza negra, el abadejo y el besugo, mariscos y pescados, así como también el asado de cordero patagónico a la cruz. Todos los años, durante el invierno, se realiza el Festival Internacional Gastronómico «Ushuaia a Fuego Lento». Es un evento en el que se incluyen circuitos gourmets, clases de cocina, degustaciones y capacitación para profesionales, con platos sobre la base de cordero, trucha, merluza negra, mejillones, centolla, entre otros.50Sin embargo, cabe destacar que la mayoría de la población de Ushuaia no consume mariscos. Estos consumen comidas típicamente de Argentina. Los alimentos más comunes que se consumen y que se pueden encontrar en cualquier casa de comida son las pastas, las pizzas, las empanadas, los guisos (de fideos, de arroz, etc.), las carnes vacunas, ensaladas, las comidas rápidas (hamburguesas, milanesas napolitanas), entre otros alimentos.
TREN DEL FIN DEL MUNDO
El denominado "Tren del Fin del Mundo", es un emprendimiento privado con finalidad turística, inaugurado en octubre de 1994.83Tiene la finalidad de recrear la parte final del recorrido del "tren de los presos", según las condiciones de la década de 1910. El ferrocarril original fue construido por los penados de la Cárcel de Reincidentes, y se extendía desde dicha cárcel hacia la zona boscosa al oeste de la ciudad, con el objeto de extraer leña para calefacción, y madera para construcción.

However, the city status of the latter remained under discussion until May 2019, when the National Statistical Institute of Chile amended the regulations to consider a city to a locality, to "those urban centers with more than 5,000 inhabitants, except those that meet the political-administrative characteristic of regional or provincial capital", in the latter point, Puerto Williams changed its denomination from village to city , morphing into the southernmost city in the world.
The immigration influx marked a significant growth in the city. In the late 1940s, more than 1,000 Italians came to these desolate confines with their families to work on infrastructure works and stayed to live forming the neighborhood that is now inhabited by the families of the Naval Base.
Finally, a third stage of population marked by industrial promotion policies was consolidated in the 1960s. This move attracted numerous companies and therefore a large number of workers who settled in new neighborhoods.
Ushuaia has a typically southern gastronomy, where you can taste the traditional centolla fueguina, the black hake, the pollock and bream, seafood and fish, as well as the roast of Patagonian lamb to the cross. Every year, during the winter, the International Gastronomic Festival "Ushuaia a Fuego Lento" is held.
It is an event that includes gourmet circuits, cooking classes, tastings and training for professionals, with dishes based on lamb, trout, black hake, mussels, centolla, among others.50 However, it should be noted that most of the population of Ushuaia does not consume seafood.
They consume typically Argentinian meals. The most common foods that are consumed and that can be found in any food house are pastas, pizzas, empanadas, stews (noodles, rice, etc.), meats vaccines, salads, fast food (burgers, Neapolitan Milanese), among other foods.
END OF THE WORLD TRAIN
The so-called "End of the World Train", is a private venture for tourist purposes, inaugurated in October 1994.83It is intended to recreate the final part of the route of the "train of prisoners", according to the conditions of the 1910s. The original railway was built by the prison of Reincidentes, and stretched from that prison to the wooded area to the west of the city, in order to extract wood for heating, and wood for construction.
